As of March 12, 2024, Moldova’s banking and non-banking institutions will expand their payment service portfolio for customers by including MIA Instant Payments.
MIA Instant Payments allows for the fast and secure transfer of money between all financial accounts in the Republic of Moldova, using only the recipient’s phone number to initiate a transfer.
There is no commission charged on transfers of up to 10,000 lei per month, and fees charged for larger transfers will not exceed 5 lei.
At the launch stage, the system includes the following transfer options:
Instant Transfer (P2P) – this feature enables the instant transfer of money from one account to another using only the indication of the recipient’s phone number.
Transfer Request (RTP) - this feature enables a user to request a transfer from another account by indicating the provider's phone number.
Developed by the National Bank of Moldova and offered through banking and non-banking institutions, the MIA Instant Payments system aims to improve Moldova’s payment infrastructure for the benefit of its citizens.

Payments based on QR code - QR code payments will allow shoppers to pay quickly at cash registers by simply scanning the merchant's code directly from their mobile phone or financial app.
Merchants will have 3 types of QR at their disposal: static QR - with or without amount, dynamic QR and hybrid QR.
Payments based on Link - Link payments can be made based on a unique link provided by the service provider. This link directs the buyer to a secure payment page, where they will select the desired financial application and confirm the transaction. Merchants can embed the payment link in online stores or send a direct link to shoppers via email, text or messaging apps, simplifying the checkout process.
"Me2Me" transfer - additional function for individuals, which offer fast transfers between your accounts, at different financial institutions The new Me2Me functionality allows users to transfer money between personal accounts held at different financial institutions. It is ideal for simplified fund management. To benefit from this service, users must activate MIA Instant Payments within the financial applications used. This way, they will be able to view all the accounts added to the system and make quick and secure transfers.
