As of March 12, 2024, Moldova’s banking and non-banking institutions will expand their payment service portfolio for customers by including MIA Instant Payments.
MIA Instant Payments allows for the fast and secure transfer of money between all financial accounts in the Republic of Moldova, using only the recipient’s phone number to initiate a transfer.
There is no commission charged on transfers of up to 10,000 lei per month, and fees charged for larger transfers will not exceed 5 lei.
In the current launch phase, the system includes the following transfer options:
- Instant Transfer (P2P) – this feature enables the instant transfer of money from one account to another using only the indication of the recipient’s phone number.
- Transfer Request (RTP) - this feature enables a user to request a transfer from another account by indicating the provider's phone number.
Developed by the National Bank of Moldova and offered through banking and non-banking institutions, the MIA Instant Payments system aims to improve Moldova’s payment infrastructure for the benefit of its citizens.
